Peckham is a vibrant town centre with a rich mix of retail, creative, arts and cultural uses, but it is not immune to the high-street decline threatening towns and cities across the country. The Aylesham Centre lies at the heart of the town centre and has an important role to play in shaping and protecting Peckham’s future for generations to come.
Tiger Developments has exciting plans to redevelop the Aylesham Centre, that will offer a greater choice of new shops and a new Morrisons store, new bus routes and improved connections and importantly provides the opportunity to deliver much needed new homes, all within a better people focused environment.
We are currently consulting on our proposals and are seeking to collect feedback from people by Monday 17 August. Unfortunately, the current Government restrictions due to Covid-19 mean we are unable to meet you face-to-face at a public exhibition as we would have liked, so we have developed this website, where you can find out details of the plans and how to provide your thoughts and comments
You can find out more about the plans by visiting ‘The Proposals’ page and you can give your feedback by visiting the ‘Give Your Views’ page. A summary of the feedback received to-date is available on the ‘Your Feedback So Far’ page. You can access all of these pages by clicking on the banner links at the top of your screen.
Building our commitment to Peckham and you
The designs you see here on this website today help to define the character and layout of the proposed buildings, streets and spaces. However, we see the physical design of the proposals as just one part of the creative process.
The place – the one that feels alive, welcoming and part of the fabric of daily life – will be shaped by the characters, cultures, values, attitudes, ideas and entrepreneurship of the people who live and work in and around the town centre. Once we have submitted our planning application, which we expect to do later this summer, we want to continue the dialogue with you about how to refine the vision for the place.
Since our last exhibition in February, the Covid-19 pandemic has changed peoples’ lives and local business considerably. It has made us even more resolved to ensure our plans are adaptable and responsive to changing times. In the future we want the site to support prosperity and wellbeing, with good homes, the right shops and places for work and leisure. We would like to stay in touch with you to help us define how the development and the wider area can evolve to deliver this, as we shape the future of the Aylesham Centre.
